why are the bohemian fairies all atwitter?
and why is Chessie hanging round the bohemian's craft room?
the bohemian queried the doormouse... he yawned and answered...
" it's almost time for something!!! "
:
"don't be late for tea!!"
wishing you all sweet summer tea times

windowsill love... recycled art...

the bohemian loves her kitchen windowsill. yes, it get cluttered but it holds the loveliest of things!  right now, it is displaying camellias from the bush just outside the window. and a few periwinkles.  both are flowers planted by her hubby's grandmother. she had a wonderful way with flowers! unlike the bohemian herself, who has a black thumb, incapable of keeping plants alive.  thus, she must forever steal pleasure from the work of others' hands. as far as gardening, anyways.
 purple periwinkle pleasure...
also on her kitchen windowsill... her charming fairy in a jar. made for her by Carmen.  behind the fairy are her party lights and in front of the fairy, a collection of tiny rocks dislodged from the bottom of a metal vase. they are awaiting a new home.
isn't she just adorable and radiating mischief?
here is the new set of cards for her exchange group. the challenge: recycle, reuse.  the strips on the right-hand side of the cards are leftover scraps of faux encaustic wax backgrounds the bohemian had made some time ago. the burgundy bird and his tan wing were punched out of a disposable coffee cup. same with the teal bird's wing.  the pale purple background paper on the left is wrapping paper. the tan-ish background paper on the right is from floral paper they wrap around flower bouquets. the crayon quote is about the faux encaustic wax... it's made by coloring on a hot iron with color crayons then applying it to paper. it is a fun and addicting process...hard to stop! but a great way to use up those broken crayons!!
these two cards weren't made for any special purpose....just using up odds and ends. the butterflies in the baggie (right side of pic) were inspired by a card seen in the royal mother's magazine...still working on finishing those ones up.
pink border made with the bohemian's favorite border punch.  butterflies punched with the bohemian's new punch.  nothing homemade on these, just a lot of scrapping papers! o yes, and the dark teal color? came from an envelope, believe it or  not!   Art is always just laying around all around you!  don't forget to look for it and USE it for creativity!   blossomy blooming fragrant wishes to you all,  and recycled art love...

random images of beauty from south bohemia...

the bohemian is still visiting the bohemia of the southlands (costa rica). every day in the secret garden where clean clothes are hung up to dry in the fresh air, the bohemian spies butterflies visiting one of their favorite flowers... and every day as the bohemian visits the kitchen of the castle, where all the lovely aromas of frying garlic and onion waft through the doorway, these lovely hibiscus blossoms greet her. and once, she even spied a leaf fairy who gave her a shy but mischievous smile. she visited a lovely waterfall garden, with blooming blossoms galore and a variety of native animals (the hummingbirds were her favorite, although the jaguars have a rare and dangerous beauty of their own). the garden bathrooms were a treat to behold! a garden spot in its own right, with lush tropical beauty... cool water pouring from the stone spout into an intensely blue bowl... and a tiny green frog to show her the faucet handle... here she is...studying her spanish in the sunshine! it is the rainy season, so one must take advantage of the sun's warmth when it shines. by afternoon the rain will have set in.... the bohemian and her daughter came across this monster on one of their walks... they were thankful someone had slain it and it could no longer sting them. it was about the size of the bohemian's palm of her hand. flaming candles of brilliant red decorate the neighboring gardens. and the bohemian is in love with the patterns of the wrought iron everywhere... here is a sample of the butterflies' favorite blossoms... they come in a great variety of colors. the scenic valley wherein lies the bohemia of the southlands... bushes full of these laughing yellow sunbursts abound. and she DID get to see a toucan finally! but only inside of a wonderful tropical aviary.... candy-colored toucan wishes to you all... hope you take time to play today!

bohemian weather faerie scandal...

here she is, the weather faerie of bohemia... what in the world is she doing?! it's cold then it's warm; it's sunny then it's raining; it's blowing a balmy warm wind then the wind becomes like a knife. she is SO very confused! oh but wait! the scandal is.... she is twitterpated!!! she has a crush on a snowman and can't bear to say goodbye... yes, she even has the weatherman calling for more snow!?! SIGH!! our bohemian is caught up in a swirly twirly condition that's leaving her absolutely dizzy!!! is she warm or is she cold? wait for 10 minutes and it will all change... her windowsill faerie is voting for SPRING!!! she has been so enjoying the spring flowers... but if the bohemian lets her nice warm fire die out then she's cold. if she keeps it stoked up, then she has to throw open the doors and windows in the afternoon because it gets too hot. hmmmm... time for the rosy-colored glasses: no hurricanes, floods or tornadoes. no earthquakes or bombings. no life-threatening illness. home...check. clothes...check. food...check. okay. life is good and she is so blessed! let the weather rage... she did have a lovely time in town with the two royal daughters. they stepped through the old iron gates, up the wooden steps to the open window of this quirky little diner, where they then dined on delicious fish and chips. cold drinks?! not for the bohemian but the royal daughters are made of tougher stuff. they braved the cold knife-sharp wind until it drove them indoors, and still they were smiling. the bohemian went purposefully outside to document the certainty of spring, with the assistance of the ghost cat. these lovely purple flowers (our bohemian once knew the name of) she calls periwinkles. they are bravely trying to bloom out. as are the miniture white magnolias (they were a "guilt gift" from Her Honey after he killed her other magnolia tree!). and the bumblebee buffet (which she calls her honeysuckle) is in full bloom and smells heavenly. and these flower bushes she calls faerie breath because she doesn't know what they are either. isn't it fun to make up names for flowering bushes?! much more fun then simply looking the names up and immediately forgetting them.... (who? ME?!!) so. there you have it. it IS srping! it IS! she will have to put mr. snowman away and break up this scandalous romance NOW! nip it in the bud, as it were... wishing golden sun-shiny wishes to all! look through those rosy-colored glasses and see it, no matter WHAT the weather is doing!!! don't forget to play...

no rain, no rainbows... or: choosing the rosy-colored glasses

finally... a slow day. a day to NOT go anywhere!!! a day of rest. a day halfway in between winter and spring... not raining, not exactly sunny but not totally cloudy, either... when i DO have to travel into town, i am usually blessed by gorgeous views; of my mountains, of cloud shows, of sunsets, of the ocean... the snow has been lingering just up on the foothills, contrary to MY wishes for spring to be fully here!!! but, living in the northwest means spring brings a lot of rain. so i'm stuck halfway between wishing and complaining... hmmm. i choose... WISHING!!! BOY, AM I BLESSED!!! two more pages for my friends RR angel book. she has both fairies and angels in her book so i did both, also, as both do make me smile... LOOK! i'm smiling right now!!! finally, my exchange group cards are done. i added some bling... hard to tell from the photo but there are rhinestones (faux). and i added homemade envelopes...(that is a magazine page, believe it or not... gorgeous, no?!)one of my trips to town involved playing (naturally!!!) and my daughter and i went into her favorite shop to browse... ( i'd like one of each, please!!! including this fab chandelier!!!) (in case i haven't mentioned it a dozen times or so... i LOVE paper dolls! how cool to hang them from the chandelier!!!) all this changing weather has brought many lovely evening skies... i remind myself: no clouds, no sunset colors!! no rain, no rainbow! may you have lovely silver linings to every dark cloud in your future.... sparkly, multicolored raindrop wishes to you all... go now and PLAY!!! p.s. yesterday was a wonderful treat for me!! i LOVE all things gypsy... everything about their culture fascinates me. i kinda hoped my parents WOULD sell me to the gypsies sometimes (did your parents ever threaten that?)... i reveled in the pleasure yesterday of meeting a lovely couple who did actually run off and join the gypsies!! yes, i was a bit jealous... what a delight to meet them...

good day, sunshine...

yes, it has been rainy lately but the last two days have been glorious!!! they begin with misty, moisty mornings... then beautiful spring weather. of course, the bohemian was shocked this morning to discover it had dipped down to 26 degrees! it has been keeping to the 50s. but it seemed damp rather than frosted... the bohemian has been wandering in blogland, trying to find inspiring and challenging blogs... her muse has been a little absent-minded lately. this black page was inspired by a michelle ward challenge: "come over to the dark side". yes, that little girl is the bohemian. yes, she has red-winged blackbirds in her neck of the woods. yes, some day she WOULD like to learn to dance some latin-type dances. another try at the challenge: 'braving the elements" (michelle ward). this is the beginning of the layers. now where to next...? another faerie for her faerie book... the hopeful faerie. a much-needed muse right now... the bohemian-townie-hipster daughter created a bunch of these sweet little cupcakes made out of old sweaters!!! aren't they adorable? this one is a wild blueberry cupcake, looking good enough to eat... yummmmmmyyyy! matchbook card valentines for la familia... (these were so fun to make!!!) put in pics of the parental units to remind them of what they looked like:).... the beginnings of a cover for an altered book... hurray for upholstery fabric sampler book gleanings... and another breath-taking glimpse of her bohemian mountain as the sun begins its sinking of the day... crispy sunshiny wishes to everyone. take time to make art!!
