It was an art thing...

First there was gelato from the little Italian neighborhood...
Then there were these incredibly detailed tiny works of art flowering along the path...

Then there was this public building with its detailed mosaic beautifying its outside...
The leaves on the tree were handprints of children...

Some of the mosaic bits were mirror pieces so that the whole thing glittered in the sunlight!!
And this mosaic floated between the building and the sky above it...
The bohemian hopes you'll take your bits and pieces and create something beautiful with them today...

Under "the aroma of purple", it would show these:
And if you wondered about the definition of "pink leopard spots", you would find this:
wishing you the passion of pink all around your world. go forth and sniff and smell!  sending you joyful thoughts...

almost time for tulips!

O! it's a bright shiny sunny day in bohemia!! it's so beautiful today! there was frost this morning, so the whole scene outside her window is sparkling in the sunlight! the bohemian is so thankful  to live in this gorgeous place...

***ART PROJECTS:  she has been working in a friends altered book themed "tulips"...

*first page:
she's been saving this picture of these two little darling girls in their bright pink dresses with those gorgeous orangey-pink tulips with shockingly yellow centers... PERFECT!
*page 2:
she's been saving this adorable but slightly bemused cherub in denim with her purple tulips... these were so perfect for her friend's tulip book! and so, now the bohemian feels justified over her office-sized file cabinet stuffed to over-flowing with collected images.... her powers of justification are immense!

*page 3:  images of beautiful little girls blissfully enjoying the tulip fields which grow in the nearby valley...
the background on this page, with which the bohemian wasn't entirely happy, was first embossed in clear embossing powder to create a mask, then inked with lime green... came out kinda messy rather than popping the pattern out.  sigh.
ALSO outside her window today, she spied a fuzzy brown squirrel playing in the cedar tree. as she was watching and laughing at his antics, she noticed a shock of cobalt blue on the feathers of a stellar jay among the green boughs of the tree.  and then, just beyond the tree, she caught a glimpse of  the startling white of a pair of trumpeter swans flying over the field below the cottage. and again, she thanked God for letting her live in such a gorgeous place with such beauty and vivid colors surrounding her. she hopes you find gorgeous beauty surrounding you today.  and wishes you the loveliest day, with sunlight sparkling like diamonds in every one of your mudpuddles... don't forget to PLAY!!

overnight spring magic...

the bohemian, despairing of spring ever arriving, had retrieved the dormant pots of her two red lion amaryllises from the dark nether regions of winter storage, put them on her kitchen windowsill, and began to water them. watching with joy and anticipation, as they grew visible inches every day, she waited... in the dark of one bohemian night, the miracle began to unfold... first one... and then the other... wonder and beauty, in CAPITAL LETTERS!!! (and to confess, she doesn't even really like the color red. but THESE red beauties brought sunshine to her kitchen, when the solar sun was lurking somewhere hidden behind gray and lowering clouds!!) and hmmm.... not liking the color red so much, she turns it into a spring card... well, her justification was... it's more orange-y than red. right? isn't it so?... this card was her "office supply" challenge. (paper clips that came with those lovely paper tabs & brads...uh huh!) this card (see the spring theme....? she has spring fever BAD!) was a "fiber" challenge. she tried to use it in a way she never has before. so she made the stem and leaf out of it. well, okay. may April showers bring you May flowers. orange-y red hugs and flowery wishes to you all...

you need rain to get rainbows...

it's the coldest, rainiest summer in bohemia! brrrrr... but the sky art has been definitely dramatic!! purple storm clouds and iridescent rainbow colors... perfect combination! the growing things around bohemia are really loving the wet weather and the occasional sunbreak... tiny blackberry blossoms are promising blackberry juicy goodness in a few more weeks. two different kinds of blackberry that bloom at different times, making bohemia's blackberry season last longer! and a strawberry blossom will soon be a mouthful of flavor-burst... hazelnuts are growing and the bohemian will soon have to fight off the squirrels and the stellar jays to harvest her share... and whirly twirly things will soon be dancing in the wind, helicopering to the ground below. the bohemian's favorite joyful summer yellowness are in full bloom. and the roses! O! the roses!!! morning glories are beautifying the edges of the bohemian's country lane. yes, it's been a wet, cold summer so far. but the bohemian still thinks she lives in the most beautiful part of our country!! and she's loaning her bohemian field to the bee keeper in anticipation of sweet, sweet honey to warm the coming winter months... and she promised to show off the garden globe she blew at the glass studio... magical, isn't it? blossomy, berry-making wishes to you all....

windowsill love... recycled art...

the bohemian loves her kitchen windowsill. yes, it get cluttered but it holds the loveliest of things!  right now, it is displaying camellias from the bush just outside the window. and a few periwinkles.  both are flowers planted by her hubby's grandmother. she had a wonderful way with flowers! unlike the bohemian herself, who has a black thumb, incapable of keeping plants alive.  thus, she must forever steal pleasure from the work of others' hands. as far as gardening, anyways.
 purple periwinkle pleasure...
also on her kitchen windowsill... her charming fairy in a jar. made for her by Carmen.  behind the fairy are her party lights and in front of the fairy, a collection of tiny rocks dislodged from the bottom of a metal vase. they are awaiting a new home.
isn't she just adorable and radiating mischief?
here is the new set of cards for her exchange group. the challenge: recycle, reuse.  the strips on the right-hand side of the cards are leftover scraps of faux encaustic wax backgrounds the bohemian had made some time ago. the burgundy bird and his tan wing were punched out of a disposable coffee cup. same with the teal bird's wing.  the pale purple background paper on the left is wrapping paper. the tan-ish background paper on the right is from floral paper they wrap around flower bouquets. the crayon quote is about the faux encaustic wax... it's made by coloring on a hot iron with color crayons then applying it to paper. it is a fun and addicting process...hard to stop! but a great way to use up those broken crayons!!
these two cards weren't made for any special purpose....just using up odds and ends. the butterflies in the baggie (right side of pic) were inspired by a card seen in the royal mother's magazine...still working on finishing those ones up.
pink border made with the bohemian's favorite border punch.  butterflies punched with the bohemian's new punch.  nothing homemade on these, just a lot of scrapping papers! o yes, and the dark teal color? came from an envelope, believe it or  not!   Art is always just laying around all around you!  don't forget to look for it and USE it for creativity!   blossomy blooming fragrant wishes to you all,  and recycled art love...
