"I have need of the sky, I have business with the grass,
I will up and get me away where the hawk is wheeling
Lone and high,
And the slow clouds go by.
I will get me away to the waters that glass
The clouds as they pass. - Richard Hovey
"...trailing clouds of glory, do we come,
From God, who is our home... -Wordsworth
sweet, wonderful glory-of-the-clouds wishes to you! have a brim-full-of-nature week....

what snowmen know...
a little wisdom from the bohemian's flaky friends:
*it's okay if you're a little bottom-heavy.
*hold your ground, even when the heat is on.
*wearing white is always appropriate.
*winter is the best of the four seasons.
*it takes a few extra rolls to make a good midsection.
*there's nothing better than a foul weather friend.
*the key to life is to be a jolly, happy soul.
*it's not the size of the carrot, but the placement that counts.
*we're all made up of mostly water.
*you know you've made it when they write a song about you.
*accessorize! accessorize! accessorize!
*avoid yellow snow.
*don't get too much sun.
*don't put someone else's corncob pipe in your mouth - you don't know where it's been.
*it's fun to hang out in your front yard.
*there's no stopping you once you're on a roll.
and now the bohemian hopes we are all wiser than we were before. and from her cold and dark corner of the world, she reminds you: TURN ON THOSE PARTY LIGHTS! wishing you all everything good there is about snow: sparkles, the lightness of floating, the peace in the silence of softly falling snow, the fun of building snow people and making snow angels and throwing snowballs and going on sleigh rides... it's really all about playing, isn't it? go play...

now THIS is a mocha!! it's beautiful ART. it's heavenly AROMA. AND. it is science!!! the waitress managed to use the molecular characteristics of liquid to fill OVER the brim and still pile on the whipped cream!! and the skillful lady brought it to the table without spilling a drop!
this is the page i created for doreen's RR book in carmen's RR, "art saves".
and the little paper person comes out of the pocket and reminds us all to DREAM. i had so much fun making this for doreen! my wish is that it inspires her keep creating ART because art brings beauty and creative energy to our world!

where in the world has she been?!
well...
for one thing, she ran off to the beach again...
a little get-away to the islands with a dear friend who she doesn't get to see often enough.
it was just what the doctor ordered...
beach art soothes her soul. she fell in love with this orange/yellow rock but left it behind on the beach for others who come after her to love...
the last thing she saw as she caught the ferry boat home was this lovely whimsical dragon guarding the library.
the days have been rainy and dark. she slapped grey paint on these journal pages to match her dark mood. but then her gaze fell upon her rosy-colored glasses... so she laid a layer of gloss on the left-hand page to make it shiny, wrote in a favorite quote, and smiled. for the right-hand page, she put down images that made her smile: henna hands with a cross symbolizing hope; bright yellow raincoats waiting for the perfect day to be worn; a child who knows how to enjoy rain and mud puddles; and another quote that makes her smile: "Once you're wet, it doesn't matter how much more you get rained on..." a truth to live by.
another place she found herself: an east indian restaurant. she indulged herself with lovely roti, and a taste of many spices foreign to her tongue but oh so intriguing. she reminisced with her friend about her trip to trinidad and tobago, where the east influence on the food was strong, and roti was one of the bohemian's favorite tastes there....
such a pleasure of sight/sound/and tastes...
she spent many satisfied hours in her art room, creating... she created a "green page", symbolizing a few of the pleasures that make up the "banquet" of her life.
she created her "children's" cards for her stamping exchange group. kites are one of her favorite things, they make her heart soar right along with the lovely kite colors and dancing kite strings.
so those are a few of the things the bohemian has bee up to lately. she sincerely wishes fresh spring flower-scented goodness to you all... keep those rosy-colored glasses nearby and count those blessings, one by one...

obsession cleverly disguised as a hobby...
more peeks into the bohemian's retreat weekend: a slice view of the quilters' room. or. how to cram 40 crafty women into one room... (there were some paper scrappers in there, too...)
the bohemian is NOT a quilter...she prefers her papers. BUT! she drools over the quilting material!!! look at this fabulous, crazy material!!! the bohemian got this glazed look in her eyes...
here are the cards the bohemian taught her class to make. they learned to emboss, use ribbon to embellish, use security envelopes' insides (hot pink cards) and basic stamping. the bohemian had a blast teaching this class....
a pink layout the bohemian created. the right-hand side was waiting for this quote: "What the heart gives away is never lost. It is kept in the hearts of others." -Robin St. John
another pink layout... the bird page's quote is: "Death twitches my ear. 'Live', he says, 'I am coming.'" -Virgil
the girl with the pink flower got this quote added: "If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere." -Vincent Van Gogh
the yellow girl page now says this: "To love and be loved is like being warmed by the sun from both sides."(not sure of author)
the lovely "yellow" bear doesn't have a quote yet. any suggestions?
the curious little girl's quote says: "The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity." -dorothy parker
the lovely Victorian lady's quote says: "Let us savor the fleeting delights of our most beautiful days." -Alphonse de Lamartine
and an ORANGE page... the bohemian LOVES the color orange so much!!! she added the quote: "A man's life is dyed the color of his imagination" (also unsure of author) in the orange oval around the sitting girl...
the bohemian and her roommate's messy space... but they got so much accomplished! and all of it was fun, fun, fun!!!
hope you have an extremely fun time CREATING today! see you tomorrow for more retreat fun...(hint: costumes! tee hee!)

dr. seuss wisdom...
theodore guisel:
"I like nonsense---it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living. It's a way of looking at life through the wrong of a telescope---and that enables you to laugh at all of life's realities."
oh, i feel another gratitude fling coming on!!
i'm grateful for:
*nonsense ( funny bones, a sense of humor, the ability to laugh, shared laughter, etc.)
*a Thanksgiving celebration filled with all my children and their spouses, around a table laden with abundant blessings
*my bohemian mountain, which is there whether i can see it or not, thrusting up from the earth's surface with majesty and grandeur
*the xm radio station Holly
*leftover turkey for sandwiches
*my families
*faith and hope and peace and contentment
*blog friendships
*the colors of my world: blue jays, black cats, orange leaves, glowing rainbows, my burnt orange guest room, christmas lights, painted journal pages, glowing honey-colored wood tones of my walls and floors, lime green fuzzy warm blankets...
*memories of loved ones gone on to heaven where they're partying for real
*pumpkin pie
*cold relief medicine
*My Honey --- he's so awesome!!
okay. ya gotta stop somewhere. my life is so full of wonderment and abundance i could sit and type for days and days. and bore everyone to death. but sometimes it's just good to list things and realize how extravagantly blessed one is!!
thanksgiving blessing and warm wishes to everyone as the christmastime season begins...

the proper use of imagination...
"The proper use of imagination is to give beauty to the world...
the gift of imagination is used to cast over the commonplace workaday world
a veil of beauty and make it throb with our esthetic enjoyment."
-Lin Yutang
"If eyes were made for seeing, then beauty is its own excuse for being." -emerson
