greetings from Costa Rica...

view from the bohemian's ocean bobbing station...

She's still in the far-off land.... taking in the exotic sights of wonder and richness...
the Volcan Arenal

She has created fairly little art but this beach collage was dedicated to the adorable little girl with the sunshine smile, who's life was lost in a tragic car wreck, just recently.

She's wishing you ocean breezes and palm trees swaying, if only in your imagination.  As  she recently read: "Worry is a waste of your imagination."  Don't waste it!!  Use it to make some art and go out and play in this big, beautiful world we live in...

In the Bohemian dicctionary...

if you looked under "hidden", you might find this:
If you looked under "contentment", there might be a picture like this:
can you hear me purring?
Under "what honey tastes like", you would smell these:
Under "the aroma of purple", it would show these:
And if you wondered about the definition of "pink leopard spots", you would find this:
wishing you the passion of pink all around your world. go forth and sniff and smell!  sending you joyful thoughts...

"i have need of the sky..."

"I have need of the sky, I have business with the grass,
I will up and get me away where the hawk is wheeling
Lone and high,

And the slow clouds go by.
I will get me away to the waters that glass
The clouds as they pass.  - Richard Hovey
"...trailing clouds of glory, do we come,
From God, who is our home...  -Wordsworth
sweet, wonderful glory-of-the-clouds wishes to you! have a brim-full-of-nature week....

almost time for tulips!

O! it's a bright shiny sunny day in bohemia!! it's so beautiful today! there was frost this morning, so the whole scene outside her window is sparkling in the sunlight! the bohemian is so thankful  to live in this gorgeous place...

***ART PROJECTS:  she has been working in a friends altered book themed "tulips"...

*first page:
she's been saving this picture of these two little darling girls in their bright pink dresses with those gorgeous orangey-pink tulips with shockingly yellow centers... PERFECT!
*page 2:
she's been saving this adorable but slightly bemused cherub in denim with her purple tulips... these were so perfect for her friend's tulip book! and so, now the bohemian feels justified over her office-sized file cabinet stuffed to over-flowing with collected images.... her powers of justification are immense!

*page 3:  images of beautiful little girls blissfully enjoying the tulip fields which grow in the nearby valley...
the background on this page, with which the bohemian wasn't entirely happy, was first embossed in clear embossing powder to create a mask, then inked with lime green... came out kinda messy rather than popping the pattern out.  sigh.
ALSO outside her window today, she spied a fuzzy brown squirrel playing in the cedar tree. as she was watching and laughing at his antics, she noticed a shock of cobalt blue on the feathers of a stellar jay among the green boughs of the tree.  and then, just beyond the tree, she caught a glimpse of  the startling white of a pair of trumpeter swans flying over the field below the cottage. and again, she thanked God for letting her live in such a gorgeous place with such beauty and vivid colors surrounding her. she hopes you find gorgeous beauty surrounding you today.  and wishes you the loveliest day, with sunlight sparkling like diamonds in every one of your mudpuddles... don't forget to PLAY!!

on the 3rd day of december...

ho hum. rain some more. makes it hard for the bohemian to get into the holiday spirit. well, that, and the nastiest of nasty cold/flu bugs, which IS really bugging her!!  but everyone she knows has suffered through it. so she will too. and be ever so grateful for the multitude of comforts she has with which to baby herself through it. short list: nyquil, tea, warm house, DRY house, comfy bed/chair/couch (whichever angle at which she gets relief), chicken soup, fuzzy blankets, warm slippers... oh. she did say "short" list, didn't she...

3rd day square of advent calendar

snowmen. she just happens to adore snowmen. she has a great collection of snowmen, which come out just after the christmas stuff gets taken down and put away.  she puts them out because she can't bear the emptiness of the house after all the decorations are gone.  she's not sure why she loves snowmen so much.  she certainly doesn't live in a snowy place. although there is a snow-covered mountain about an hour away from her house.  she never goes up there anymore. her fibromyalgia makes it so that she can't bear the cold...
the bohemian cottage in the snow
but if and when... when it DOES snow... when those first few flakes come floating down... well, she just gets up and does the happy dance!!  it's absolutely magical!
snowflakes fascinate her! she has cut them out of paper every year since she can remember! still! to this day! and she pours over mr. bentley's snowflake pictures every year  in amazement and wonder. what an incredible thing that happens to water in the freezing air!

and around her house there are a few snowflakes that seem to get left up through the year... this one is in her kitchen. because it's pink and red. and her kitchen is pink and tan.  and she made this one with her children when they were small.  you know the kind... that you put all the little plastic pellets in the metal frame and bake it in the oven. and watch the magic...  she's pretty sure she was more thrilled than the kids were.

and, of course, her favorite tree at the holiday show is always the one with SNOWFLAKES all over it!!

may all your snowy wishes come true and may you experience that magical peace that steals over you when the snow flakes fall.  even if you live in a desert place and your flakes are made of paper! she hopes you are enjoying the holiday season to the max!

autumn wonders:

the bohemian loves looking out her kitchen window this autumnal time of the year. this lovely tree (which she guesses is a sumac?) does the most fantastic things throughout the seasons! but in fall... O in fall, it announces its flamboyancy! the colors in the picture are muted as the bohemian tried to snap pictures through the window without going out into the cold dampness.  cowardly, yes...

and as she watched through the window, a flock of sapsuckers came to feast on the special treats the tree was providing!

and what they were after were these blood-red berries clustered and hanging from each limb...
(yes, the sky was this awful bleached-out, bruised color... it can be depressing at times. but. then. there's this wonderful tree... !!)  the bohemian LOVES the starburst shape of these berry clusters!

the berries look black but they are this deep, rich, purply-red  color. they look spectacular on their pink stems, don't they?  the sapsuckers sure love them!  the bohemian got such a kick out of watching them teeter on these slender stems and hang upside down trying to get to the berries! such entertainment!  it made the bohemian laugh for days...
then there's the bohemian's BEST entertainment!!!  this is her little pumpkin, AKA the fairy grandchild.
...and who just happens to LOVE the little orange pumpkins from the fairy grandmother's garden!!  * * *  here's wishing you bright orange pumpkin wishes and hopes for yummy pumpkin pie coming your way soon!!

the further adventures of miss hanna the fairy grandchild...

We last left miss hanna the fairy grandchild wandering the grounds around the bohemian grandmother's cottage. miss hanna was finding all kinds of wondrous things to discover.  in the driveway that led around the cottage, there were rocks of all sizes, shapes, and colors...
and in between the rocks was lovely, lovely, silken dust!
oh joy to one's hands! the soft, cool, wispy stuff! one never could be quite sure that it wasn't fairy dust!!!
it felt so magically ticklish on the legs!!
till the grandmother said: "alright. that's enough...dust off your hands!"
and then the grandmother showed miss hanna the mystery of the hazelnuts that were dropping from the shady tree into the grass beneath...
and little round pumpkins hiding under giant green leaves...
miss hanna thought it was a green ball and tried to pull it off the vine... the grandmother said: "no, no! hanna, no!" but miss hanna has no idea of the smiley jack'o'lantern that the green "ball" will become in another month! oh, won't she be surprised!  (well...that is all of miss hanna's adventure pictures that blogger would let the bohemian grandmother post for today! rats!  but please come back another time so see what further adventures miss hanna the fairy grandchild will have!)     autumn-y wishes to you! and a very merry full moon night to you all...

bohemia by the sea... ( a little bit more)

the bohemian is so thankful she lives near the sea...
to be able to wander along the shore, walk upon the stones, smell the saltwater tang of the air...
marvel at God's creation... the light, the colors, the textures, the animals...
find a shocking dash of purple in the cold blue of the water...
discover with delight the patterns on a starfish's back...
what a glorious day of discovery and delight!!
AND: it's that time of year again for the bohemian!!  off she goes retreating to the peace and quiet of the gardens along with the women of her church...  she wishes you the beauty of spring, bursting into bloom in your corner of the world.  get out there and play in all that sunshine and beauty...can you still do cartwheels? swing on a rope swing? blow bubbles? fly a kite?  go outside and see if it is still in you.  salty wishes and ocean dreams to you all...
