1st of October...

knee-deep into autumn, and the weather in bohemia is unusually dry and unseasonably warm.  and no rain looms on the weather forecaster's horizon.
on the first day of october, the morning weather in bohemia is cold! brrrrr! but clear...soon to be sunny! and a visit to the chiropractor is on the schedule for the day.  aching limbs and last week's raging headache are to be expelled!!

and pumpkin picking. that is on the list for today.  the last few cold mornings have shriveled up the vines and wilted the giant leaves and the bright orange baby pumpkin faces are grinning up at the bohemian.

and packing... that's on the list also! packing for a train ride. a lovely train ride to the Women of Faith conference in Portland. with the royal sister.  the bohemian is smiling in anticipation...

and ghost cat has his halloween costume all picked out for this year... have you?  do sweet little trick or treaters, all dressed up in their imaginations, come knocking at your door?  last year, the bohemian had NONE! she was sad.  but this year, she will at least have grandchildren to come knocking... yes, she's smiling some more.   happy autumn pumpkiny wishes to you...

put on the party lights and dance...

on a dreary friday afternoon in a nearby country, the bohemian got a creative assignment finished up to her satisfaction. the "challenge" was "your choice". the bohemian would FAR rather be given an actual challenge than such a general, uninspiring subject. but she had these cards laying around from ages ago, so she decided to use them. six of them, one for each member of her stamping exchange group...she had been saving this particular piece of paper for something special and liked it so much against the background of this cardstock color. it just seemed to say halloween... her sister had the punches: corner cobweb, black cat, leaves; also the cobweb stamp. the sparkly pumpkin was a new stamp the bohemian had just newly acquired and was wanting to USE. the right-hand side is perforated and tears off to become a bookmark. fun, huh? so yea! a mission accomplished... (don't know why this card pic looks so purple...actual color is better in above pictures...) and then, on this dreary day, what else was there to do but.... put on the party lights and dance!! there, that's better. hope you have party lights to cheer those dark, dreary days. let it shine!

the weather sprite in bohemia is in a MOOD today. one second it is dark and gloomy and yes, even raining. then next second, the sun peeks out and it gets all golden and warm... then a minute later, back to dark gloom. our bohemian washed her jammies and put them out on the clothesline to dry... hmmm... any bets? the bohemian has worn her "resident artist hat" this week and has been "playing with paper dolls". here is an example:
this paper doll fairy has no name as of yet. the bohemian made her with someone in mind, so the ideas are percolating...
the magical playmate came out to play today but alas, our bohemian had lots of mundane chores to do. so the magical playmate joined in and made it so much more fun! isn't it always more fun WITH someone than alone? well...work, that is. our bohemian actually finds PLAYING alone quite fun and satisfying.
chore #1: folding clothes.
chore # 2: sweeping.
off they went to the kitchen, where there was much work to be done. the magical playmate visited with the bohemian's fairy in the bottle, which lovely carmen the mermaid had made her (visit her blog, Writing From Life, there on the side bar...), whilst our bohemian danced with her broom to the music and the dust bunnies scampered for cover.
chore #3: baking.
the bohemian wanted to turn some over-ripe bananas into tasty muffins, so the magical playmate studied the spell (recipe) to see how to do it and what ingredients were needed. sweetest honey and the bohemian's harvested hazelnuts were called for, as were eggs of the chicken and grated peel of lemon.
soon, tasty muffins appeared from out of the magic oven and at once, the bohemian and the magical playmate sat down to enjoy them...
they were interrupted by that evil device, the cell phone. the playmate fielded the call and asked them to call at a more convenient time (never)...(unless it's a dearest friend, then of course...anytime is convenient. well, almost... but i digress...).
wi wi, mon cheri! but of course there was coffee to go with the tasty banana muffins!!
chore #4: preservation.
next on our bohemian's list was the job of getting the giant zucchini into a more manageable state and then hide it away in the royal freezer, to be made into warm, delicious zucchini bread during the long, dark winter months ahead...
yes, folks, all from just one zucchini!!!
whew! time for a break...
wishing you all: rewards for your labor and fun for your spirit and a lovely day, no matter WHAT the weather's mood is turning out to be.

waiting...

waiting for nap time... waiting for the hazelnuts to ripen...
waiting for the clothes to dry...
(what has Black Cat found?)
waiting for the hubbard squash...
meanwhile, greatly enjoying the squash blossoms and their gorgeous yellow!
waiting for the house fairies to do up the dishes...
oh rats...
guess I'LL have to do it...
waiting to eat the first ripe tomato... (whining: how long? how loooongg?!!)
waiting to be petted...
"to do" list waiting to be done... think I'll do the PLAY one first, then maybe the JUMP FOR JOY one next, after that I'll have to RELAX... then maybe some DISCOVERING, and add some GIGGLE WITH DELIGHT... JOIN ME, WON'T YOU?
